Heidi Kanagy How long have you been a member? I’ve been a member at EFC since 2011. What motivates you to come to the gym? I’m a member of EFC because it’s part of a broader lifestyle that strengthens my spiritual, emotional, mental and physical wellbeing. The social connections and the great workouts are part of what makes coming to EFC so important to me. I primarily attend the spin classes—Cheryl and Lynn are terrific! What do you do in your spare time? In my spare time, I love to spend time with my grandsons who are 6 and 4. I also enjoy volunteering at my church, biking, gardening and spending time with family and friends. What is your favorite motivational/fitness quote? I show up at the gym in part to negate and overcome messages I received early in my childhood that I wasn’t capable of doing certain things. So, my motivational quote is simply, “I can,” which reminds me of past accomplishments. Member of the Month - November 2025
Amy Jo Vuxta How long have you been a member? I've been coming to the EFC for over 20 years. I appreciate the friendliness of staff and other gym members. What motivates you to come to the gym? The variety of machines and spaces in which to exercise allow for diverse workouts. What do you in your spare time? When I am not exercising at EFC, I walk and swim laps. I also enjoy playing the piano, volunteering with youth, reading and socializing with friends and family, especially my two grandsons. What is your favorite motivation/fitness quote? My favorite motivational quote is "Don't give up what you want most for what you want now", and l often tell myself when I feel like I can't do something, "You can and you will!” Member of the Month - October 2025
Ed Dauphenbaugh How long have you been a member? I was a member at EFC in 2010 for about 3 years. Moved away from Etown and rejoined almost 2 years ago. What motivates you to come to the gym? I agreed to share my story in hopes it would help someone else from getting the surprise I got. I would have died, but Niki shown in the pictures was over to call 911. This happened after midnight so I did not die technically on my son Pauls and his new wife Amanda's wedding. Lucky for me and thanks to their mad skills and dedication, Elizabethtown police arrived and started CPR within 6 minutes of Niki's call to 911. They hit with paddles three times and did CPR for 5 mins. Officer Cook and Officer Bigler saved my life. If you ever see them, say thank you for me. Recover is slow, and I need to remember it has only been 4 months. What is your favorite motivational/fitness quote or saying? My favorite quote is real men feel the weather on their face. |
